Avreichim Rescued From IDF Firing Zone

A group of avreichim had to be rescued from a Golani Brigade firing zone in northern Israel on Tuesday night. The group of 15 from Jerusalem was on a hike and found themselves in the midst of a military firing zone. After getting lost and walking for a number of hours, they phoned Zaka for assistance after nightfall.

They were directed as how to leave the area and the Zaka commander, Rav Farkash notified the relevant authorities to halt training exercises until the avreichim were clear of area. They were eventually escorted out by a police vehicle to ensure they did not go astray again.

After being rescued, one of the avreichim was asked why they entered the military zone, which is clearly marked with highly visible signs to prevent a tragedy from occurring. He explained “one of the group said they are not shooting here”. The avreichim were found about 3km (1.8 miles) into the firing zone area, an active firing zone at that. B’chasdei Hashem the story ends without injuries or worse.

  1. There are those that want to learn Torah.
There are those that want to learn Secular Subjects.

AND there are those that will ignore anything & everything having to do with the Government of Israel.

Hakaras Hatov to the Police that rescued them without danger, BH.

That is bizarre. I wonder whether that person is patur min hamitzvos. Unfortunately declaring him a shoteh would also make his wife an agunah, so it’s not such a good idea.
