Israel Electric: Expect 35 Percent Higher Bill in the Summer

According to Israel Electric Company officials, the sharp increase in the price of electricity since last summer accompanied by the increased demand during the summer months will leave the average user with a bill that is 35% higher than the summer months of 2011.

IEC officials report that the price of electricity has increased 23% since last summer, and this added to the 10% increase in usage during the hot months will leave consumers with a significantly higher bill.

  1. This shouldn’t be a surprise given the substantial increase in global oil prices to nearly $100/bbl, the more frequent interruptions in natural gas supplies from Egypt and the recent IAC investments to upgrade the older parts of the distribution network in parts of Yerushalayim and Haifa.
