Tens of thousands flocked to Uman for tefilos Rosh Hashanah and the Tikun HaKlali on erev Yomtov. The tens of thousands responded to Rabbi Nachman’s request to visit him on Rosh Hashana and said, “My Rosh Hashanah is superior to everything.”
The many looked happily at the changes following many renovations of the area.
Many who attended a ceremony in preparation for the safety of tens of thousands involving United Hatzalah was held in the Beit Moreshet Maran area, sponsored by Avi Ben-Yisrael, a well-known baal chessed.
On-call sub-stations operated during the three-day Yomtov/Shabbos weekend, and this year, numbered zone signs were in place similar to the system utilized in Meron on Lag B’Omer, numbering the areas so one requiring assistance can report what number sign he is near, ranging from 1 to 15, significantly simplifying locating patients. Some dialed the emergency number activated for the operation, 063-800-1221.
The United Hatzalah medical clinic that was set up treated more than 5,000 cases from colds to cardiac symptoms, throat infections to dehydration and asthma attacks to persons requiring sutures. In fact, 74 people need stiches and 23 persons sustained a facture. Many persons with a chronic illness lost their medications and three were sent to a hospital in Kiev. One of the three was transported by chopper, escorted by Ukraine Hatzoloh leader Rav Hillel Cohen.
Raphael Tobol, chairman of the travel company Uman Express, said: “As we have been prepared to serve the tens of thousands of people coming to be mispallel at the tziyun of Rabbi Nachman on Rosh Hashanah in fast, comfortable cars and modern air-conditioned buses that allow traveling to Uman and the tombs of the righteous in Ukraine. This year we also placed the parking lots at a convenient location for walking to mark Rabbi Nachman without having to climb the hard climb as soon as the passengers arrived at Uman.”
Nati Austri, Director of the United Hatzalah delegation to Uman, concluded by thanking all the volunteers who, take of their time for the tzibur, the tens of thousands visiting on Rosh Hashanah, for their dedication and professionalism.
