What is YWN? I get a lot of news from YWN, thank you very much dear friends at Yeshiva World News. At the same time, is it just me, but sometimes I feel like YWN articles mock frum Jews.
So in between serious news, sometimes there are entertaining rants… that I just read with maybe a grain of kosher salt.
What do you think when you see articles, that more or less, have headlines as such?:
Watch This! XXX COVER SCREENS ON THE PLANE! [Didn’t look]
DRUGS COLLECTED AT XXXX DURING ROSH HASHANAH! [Says who, just see someone counting? what looks like marijuana]
REBELLIOUS FRUM JEW DELAYS PLANE! [Average man talking on phone peacefully]
…btw, so last week I told someone how I knew all about the chicken question in Jerusalem because I read about it last month on YWN. This person was surprised that I knew (turned out that we were actually discussing two separate chicken issues, regarding two different chickens).
But anyway, the person backed off in explaining because I sounded like I knew what I was talking about, I guess.
Do other people know what I’m talking about when I say “Yeshiva World News”? Is it a common news site?
Or are they, mostly, nodding and just continuing conversation, having no idea what this YWN is?
Or anything in between?

I was once in a college class (R”L) and the professor went on a whole rant about how we don’t read the news so we don’t know what’s going on in the world, so a guy in the class called out:
“Whadya mean?! I get Yeshiva World on my Blackberry!”

I use an entire box, and then some. Especially the comments.
