When Otzma Yehudit leader Dr. Michael Ben-Ari questioned why an event scheduled to take place in the Lod Mifal HaPayis community center was canceled, he learned the order came from City Hall. A party conference was set to take place in the center and despite the written contract signed for the rental of the venue for the event, the city ordered it canceled.
Otzma Yehudit officials have already announced a new venue and date and their conference will be held on Monday, 5 Tishrei 5778, at the Gandhi Garden. Ben-Ari decried the effort to silence his party’s voice, questioning what would be the response if the city canceled an event hosted by the left-wing Mertz Party.
Attorney Itamar Ben-Givir stated the city broke the law and violated a contract and damages will be sought. He also had words of criticism for the Lod Municipality and its effort to silence the voice of a legitimate political party.
