The Toms River Police Department released a statement for local resident ahead of Rosh Hashanah and Sukkos.
One item was regarding people going away for Rosh Hashanah. The Department asked people to inform them of their information (name address etc) if they are away for Yom Tov so the police can keep an eye on those properties.
The second item involved the building of Sukkahs:
“The building code allows temporary structures of up to 120 square feet (10×12) which are exempt from construction permits,” the statement read.
“In cases where a family would like a Sukkah in excess of 120 square feet, two separate structures are recommended acceptable”.
“There is no provision within the Uniform Construction Code requiring a specific distance between temporary structures. Each structure would have to be independent; four walls, or in most cases three walls with the fourth wall being the dwelling,” the Township said.

So, in essence, they can’t build onto their huge Toms River properties a sukka larger than they had when they lived in Brooklyn. We Brooklynites can sympathise! Lol
I’m very happy thy are being so cordial and perhaps friendly. I don’t think Jackson township would get anything close to that
Come to Brick
Amazing how much Tom’s River looks like yerushalayim! Maybe that’s why the Jews want to move there
Hey Jackson, NJ,
This is called being NICE to new members of your town. Highly impressive.
I’m bothered by that 10*12 sukka cap however. I hope that’s dealt with over the next year.
El, not to worry – they will give you a week from notice to dissemble it…
