Syrian Infiltrator Shot & Wounded at N. Border

IDF soldiers along Israel’s border with Syria on shabbos shot and wounded a would-be Syrian infiltrator along the southern Golan Heights fence. The soldiers opened fire when they detected the man cutting the barbed wire at the border at 15:20 after he ignored verbal orders to halt.

In line with open fire orders they fired at his lower extremities after he did not respond to verbal commands.

Security officials report that due to the violence in Syria, there is an increase in efforts to infiltrate into Israel. Yisrael HaYom quotes “senior intelligence community” officials anonymously stating that the area in which the shooting incident occurred is an area in which the Global Jihad and al-Qaeda are operating towards carrying out terrorist attacks in addition to observing IDF troops operating along the border.
