The policemen’s quick reaction led to the arrest of a resident of eastern Jerusalem after he was suspected of breaking into his apartment and attempted to escape in his car.
Late in the night a police report was received about a man who appeared to be leaving a house in the city center and fled by car. After a short while, the police noticed the suspicious vehicle while driving. The driver ignored police when instructed to pull over for inspection. He was arrested after committing a number of serious driving violations.
According to a preliminary investigation, the suspect (35, of eastern Jerusalem) tried to break into the apartment, and was searched for gloves, burglary tools and a hat.
The police also discovered that the suspect had modified the vehicle’s license plate numbers, apparently in order to blur and prevent locating him.
He was taken into custody and will face numerous charges. He was arraigned and held over without bail in the Monday hearing.
