After Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef Shlita called for including Avinu Malkeinu in tefilos due to the gezeira hanging over Klal Yisrael, referring to efforts to compel tens of thousands of avreichim to leave beis medrash, it appears some IDF soldiers began reciting the tefilla as well, inside shuls on IDF basis.
According to a Ynet report, after learning of this, the IDF Chief Rabbinate issued a directive prohibiting the inclusion of the tefilla on IDF bases.
Some reports indicate that chareidi soldiers serving in the Kirya (Defense Ministry) in Tel Aviv began including the tefilla in their daily davening as they adhere to the instructions of gedolei yisrael.
According to the Ynet report, this is now prohibited on IDF installations.

Chutzpah!!
Not surprised at all. It has nothing to do with Avinu Malkeinu. If the gedolim would ask that everyone have special kavanah when saying “velamalshinim…” and “hashivah shofteinu” during the amidah to replace the anti-Torah government and corrupt court system with G-d fearing Jews, the Idf would not permit it either and the secular media would call to arrest for incitement. You can’t even get this message across in secular talkbacks.

Agreed…it really does take chutzpah for a soldier in the IDF who is sworn to defend the medinah to be saying Avinu Malkenu over a proposed policy change of that government that would require others to do what you are already doing. Hopefully, this is just an anomaly among a few misguided Chareidim who misunderstood the policy.
How horribly bizarre…prohibiting government employees from saying tefillahs against the government in government operated shuls. The chutzpah…the nerve…the liberalness!
…I mean…the next thing you know there will be rabbanum who prohibit the saying of prayers for the government in private shuls…can you imagine such a result? Chutzpah.
