Israel Police’s Shai (Shomron – Yehuda) Unit is primarily responsible for maintaining law and order throughout Yehuda and Shomron. It reports that traffic enforcement police operating in those areas during the past week issued 658 summonses to drivers.
As part of the targeted enforcement of the traffic police and the integration of additional forces, with an emphasis on Route 60 along with other roads in Yehuda and Shomron, 658 traffic summonses were recorded during the past week.
Most of the enforcement focused on drivers who endanger other motorists, bullying and endangering life.
- 14 licenses were suspended
- 13 vehicles were severe deficiencies were removed from the road
- 9 vehicles were classified as unrepairable and sent for crushing
- 35 drivers were cited for using their mobile phones while operating the vehicle
On the main roadway, Route 60, near Gush Etzion Junction, a PA (Palestinian Authority) vehicle was stopped for routine inspection. Officers learned the driver was unlicensed and never had a driver’s license. This was the fifth time he was apprehended for the same offence. The driver, a resident of the PA near Hebron, was arrested and his vehicle impounded for thirty days.
