Increased Security in Burgas Airport

Bulgarian officials report security in the Burgas Airport has been significantly increased following last week’s fatal bombing attack. In addition to stationing additional policemen in the airport, arriving Israeli groups are receiving additional security personnel that remain with the group. Some of the security measures taken according to Walla News is a policeman assigned to each check-in booth, and flights to and from Israel no longer appear on the digital board monitoring flights so a would-be terrorist cannot monitor flights with Israelis.

Israelis traveling will only be informed of flight information via the airport’s public address system. Walla quotes tourist Shir Tamir, who is was in Bulgaria on shabbos, explaining “we read tehillim the entire way to the airport. We hope that with Hashem’s help we will get home safely”.
