Minister of Public Security Gilad Erdan visited Jewish neighborhoods that are being revitalized, liberated from the Arabs, in the eastern areas of the capital. The minister stated that the Jewish families in these areas understand what everyone must understand, that the Jewish sovereignty over the State of Israel and Eretz Yisrael begins with them, these communities.
Accompanying Erdan was Jerusalem Police Chief Yoram Halevy, visiting Maale Zeitim, Kedmat Tzion, Silwan and Kfar HaTeimanim. Erdan spoke with local residents, addressing security and what steps can be taken to improve the situation.
Erdan is pushing a 1.2 billion shekel plan, to add 1,250 police to the city, which he is confident will result in a significant improvement in security for all. He also spoke of the establishment of a national control center with thousands of smart cameras that will be deployed throughout the entire city, including the area of the Old City.
The area visit was concluded with a visit to the historic shul in Kfar HaTeimanim, in the Silwan area. Just last week, two Sifrei Torah were brought to the shul in a special ceremony attended by about 300 people.
