A recent meeting between Jerusalem City Councilor Aryeh King and Yachad party leader Eli Yishai took place as King tells the media he is indeed in touch with Yishai as they probe a possible running list for the 2018 Jerusalem elections. King would head a list that includes representatives of Yishai in the city race.
King told the media there have been meetings and phone calls between him and the former Shas party leader. He adds that no decision has been reached to date, explaining the talks have yet to mature to this level.
In the 2013 elections, King announced he was vying for a spot at the Jerusalem City Council table as head of the seamline communities’ list, which became a list of persons disgruntled with Bayit Yehudi. He earned two seats and he and Shmuel Shkedy entered the local coalition.
Two years ago, King filed against Mayor Nir Barkat, leading to Barkat firing him from the city coalition. Later on, king lift left on his own.
There are also rumors floating that if Aryeh Deri is indicted, Yishai would be called in to lead the party once again. Shas officials told the press such rumors are not based on reality.
