According to a Kuwaiti media report, the United States is using political channels to arrange a meeting between President Shimon Peres and newly-elected Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi. America feels such a meeting would be a major step towards establishing a relationship between Jerusalem and Cairo as diplomatic ties have been frozen since ousting of President Hosni Mubarak.

Israel Radio reports that if such a meeting takes place, President Peres will invite President Morsi to visit Israel.
