Why is there signs all over the place of” Back to School “in the summer?
Why cant the world let kids enjoy their summer without seeing the dreaded word…SCHOOL?!
Its not good for the emotional status of the children! When I was in Yeshivah I remember seeing ashoe store advertisment that said Back toSchool and I hadnt even finish Yeshiva yet , and if youll try to tell me that the buisnness gets more money THEY CANT USE THE KIDS TO MAKE ONEYAugust 11, 2017 2:27 pm at 2:27 pm #1337623MenoParticipantIn your opinion, when should stores start advertising and selling school supplies? The day before school starts?
THEY CANT USE THE KIDS TO MAKE [M]ONEY
What’s that supposed to mean?
August 11, 2017 2:31 pm at 2:31 pm #1337627jakobParticipantwhen your children go to the store with you they don’t view & look at the signs the same way as adult parents do. they are going on a trip while us as parents are focusing on prices & going shopping etc…
i.e. they don’t realize & have wisdom to know that the reason why school supplies is in front of the store now is because school is almost starting, their childhood brain & mind level makes them think that this is today’s sale etc…
August 11, 2017 2:56 pm at 2:56 pm #1337634👑RebYidd23ParticipantJakob, they’re children, not fools.
August 11, 2017 3:00 pm at 3:00 pm #1337632iacisrmmaParticipantSG: The signs are for the parents. We are doing our sales now. Come to the store today and save. It is the way that a store generates revenue.
August 11, 2017 3:20 pm at 3:20 pm #1337642MenoParticipantRebYidd, don’t be silly. Children aren’t real people.

“It is the way that a store generates revenue.”
That is the problem !!!! My nephew came over to me today and told me that he feels like he’s in middle of school because all he sees is \pencils\binders \sharpeners \erasers\losseleaf paper\etc. and he is 6 yrs old!!
So the store is זה נהנהand my nephew is זה חסר!!August 12, 2017 10:44 pm at 10:44 pm #1337736LightbriteParticipantAfter Channukah comes Purim.
After Purim comes Pesach.
After Pesach comes 3-Weeks Tisha B’Av.
After Tisha B’Av comes Rosh Hashanah.
August 12, 2017 10:49 pm at 10:49 pm #1337744iacisrmmaParticipantSG: tell your nephew “that’s life”. You want to appease him, fine. My seven year old received his supply list and was very happy to shopping with my wife last week.
August 13, 2017 1:32 pm at 1:32 pm #1337948sefardi guyParticipantMr iacisrmma, Your seven yr old will be burnt out of life once he turns 10 if you continue to provoke hi to love school by shopping for school in the summer.
Come to think about it, if during the year he has school, and during the summer he takes care of school, so when is his vacation?!August 13, 2017 4:57 pm at 4:57 pm #1338032iacisrmmaParticipantSG: None of my other children were burnt out at 10….Do you actually have children of your own? Or just someone who is totally clueless?
Do I or any other parent have to wait and fight not only other yeshiva parents but public school parents in late August and early September?
We took one Sunday morning (the seventh Sunday since school finished) to shop for his supplies (since his school lets the parents know in advance what to buy).
Vacation…..the whole summer when he is in day camp and doesn’t come home to do homework. Almost every parent shops for school during the summer months (at least for the basics) when they are on sale. Every Sunday has been either going to parks or other child related activities.
August 13, 2017 6:07 pm at 6:07 pm #1338055sefardi guyParticipantMr. iacrismma Im going from topic to topic fighting with you about the most dumbest things
but anyways i have alot of kids and I dont mention the word school even during the school year and they have a awsome life and are very happy so pls go join the chinuch roundtable and i really feel bad for your kids that live school more than the principleAugust 13, 2017 7:07 pm at 7:07 pm #1338079iacisrmmaParticipantIf you didn’t want anyone to answer you, then why did you bother posting in the first place? This is a forum; you post and we then discuss. If you didn’t want that then write a letter to the editor at The Yated or Mishpacha.
I doubt highly that most people think school is s forbidden word. Except you of course.
August 14, 2017 12:07 am at 12:07 am #1338179🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantJust saying we don’t ever say the word school on non school days nor during the summer. We don’t open the supply lists til the end of the summer and we buy everything the last couple days. School is hell for some of my children and the ten weeks of summer are their only peaceful ones. It’s hard to explain the damage the topic brings to those who are fortunate not to know. Over time, I have to admit it has become that way for me as well. I try hard not to think about school til I have to because the thoughts bring along with it all the pain of watching some of my children suffer.
Having said that, I would never think of imposing such a process on someone else and I agree with everyone who thinks this thread is just plain silly.
August 14, 2017 7:05 am at 7:05 am #1338219MenoParticipantSo, sefardi guy, when do you buy your kids’ school supplies?
Or do you not buy them at all, because only losers who like school come prepared?
August 14, 2017 7:11 pm at 7:11 pm #1338971👑RebYidd23ParticipantWhen the day camp my sister attended had a school themed day, I felt that that stole away some of the joy of summer vacation.
