In case there was any doubt, George W. Bush made it abundantly clear in a recent interview that although it was “awesome” being president for eight years, he doesn’t miss life in political office.
“Eight years was awesome and I was famous and I was powerful,” Bush told the Hoover Institute’s Peter Robinson. “But I have no desire for fame and power anymore. … I crawled out of the swamp and I’m not crawling back in.”
Bush also explained his reluctance to join the nation’s chorus of political voices.
“I think it’s bad for the presidency to have former presidents bloviating, opining, telling people how it ought to be done. … I don’t want to undermine our president — whoever’s president — and a former president can do that. … Either you’re in or out of politics, Peter, and I’ve chosen to be out. You can’t be halfway.” Bush did add that he hopes Mitt Romney wins the presidency this November.

It is difficult to think of a worse president than George D. Bush (D. for Dumb or just ‘Duh’). Leading America into war in Iraq to get weapons of mass destruction that never existed, he did not listen to intelligence and instead cause a tremendous killing of innocent people, over throw of a fascist dictatorship that kept the crazy Islamist extremists from opening their mouth – now America can not get out of Iraq.
All of this not to mention the total waste of money all of this while he totally ignored the looming economic black cloud that was beginning (at that time) to engulf America.
If anyone remembers his anti Israel policy and pro Arab leanings when he came into office, it was forgotten after 9/11 and he went after the Arabs and needed Israel as a friend.
If anyone was guilty of war crimes, it should have been this person for what he did in Iraq. Yes, I am frum, but I believe in ‘modeh al ha emes’. Georgie-boy was a horror that even goodie goodie Obama can clean up after.
#1, I think you forgot to take your meds this morning
President Bush’s heart was in the right place. The war in Iraq was certainly the biggest mistake of his presidency, but he did it because he believed the sources that were telling him that Iraq had WMDs, and he wanted to avoid another 9/11. The fact remains that further terrorist attempts on his watch did not come close to success in the way they have under his successor. As Torah Jews, I think we perhaps need to realize that Hashem runs the world, and for reasons known only to Hashem he let events play out so that we were lured into the Iraq war. President Bush’s efforts were the best that he knew to do, and for that he deserves our thanks.
#1, I agree with #2.
He was a gentleman in the greatest sense and did what he thought was right. You don’t have to agree with him.
BTW–the financial disaster was caused in no small way by the democrats in congress forcing banks to lend to people on welfare with no way to pay back. This caused an industry (maybe racket is the better word) of inflating house values and mortgages. Just ask your friend Barney Frank.
Well said, #1. Dubya will go remembered along with Chester A. Arthur as one of the worst presidents in our history.
President George W. Bush was one of the best President’s in the history of the United States. He took over after the disastrous Clinton years, when Slick Willie was too busy with Monica to respond to numerous terrorist attacks against the U.S. in 1993, 1998, and 2000 that he failed to respond to. That lead up to Al Quida, seeing America doesn’t mind its terrorism under Clinton, to attack American on September 11, 2001, a mere 7 months after Clinton left office.
Osama thought Bush was another Clinton. Boy was he in for a surprise. Bush declared was against terror, and never gave up. And Al Quida has never again attacked American Soil under the great leadership of W.
And thank G-d George Bush invaded Iraq and removed Saddam Hussein from the world stage, sending him to the gallows he so well deserved (and should have been placed many years earlier.) Imagine a world today with Saddam still in office threatening world peace.
Not to mention Bush’s strong and unwavering support of Israel and the Jewish people. Something his successor, Barack Hussein Obama discarded in his new administration’s desire to not unconditionally support Israel as his predecessor Bush had done for 8 years.
Bush was great! He’s morale and really cares about the people, he did a great Jon handling 9/11
And about Iraq I don’t blame him we saw what happened when manyiacs like billaden were out on the loos, he had to take out thenext biggest threat wich was Sadam, with or with out WMDs
Not familiar/interested enough to comment on whether or not GWB was or was not a good leader. However, if one of the first things he says about his presidency is,”…I was famous and I was powerful” seems to tell a lot about what was #1 on his priority list.
