With a number of police investigations taking place against Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, there is an undercurrent of speculation among his opponents, that he will be compelled to step down if and when a criminal indictment is filed. There are weekly motzei shabbos protests near his official residence, which turn into a battle between opponents and supporters.
Coalition Chairman David Biton, an organizer of a support rally, spoke on motzei Shabbos, citing he is confident that not only will Mr. Netanyahu remain in office, he will be in office for some time.
Also present was MK (Likud) Ochana, who added, “I came here to Petach Tikvah with a message. Prime Minister Netanyahu is the most appropriate person to deal with all the many, many, many challenges that have long been assigned to the head of the State of Israel. He, too, is innocent of any crime until his guilt is proven ”
