Treasury officials have lowered taxes up to 15% on hundreds of import items this week. Finance Minister Dr. Yuval Shteinitz signed the order to lower customs and sales tax on many items, including foods, household items, and textiles.
The new regulation went into effect immediately and joins a similar move taken by the treasury in January 2012. At that time, the reduction was limited to items not manufactured in Israel.
