Dan Halutz, the IDF chief of staff during the Second Lebanon War on motzei shabbos announced he is quitting the Kadima Party to show his disapproval of the handling of the Plesner Committee and IDF draft by party leader Shaul Mofaz. Halutz has already made his appearance at the Jerusalem-based Sucker’s Tent to affix his signature to the growing list of notables demanding the chareidi tzibur shares in the burden. The former commander is questioning Kadima’s continued presence in the government coalition headed by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.
Halutz is calling on politicians to be true to their agenda and move things along. Speaking for himself, he feels that leaving the party may compromise his effectiveness but he vows to continue being an activist and doing the best he can for the cause he believes in. He stated it is not complicated, and according to the state law, all Israeli citizens must enter the IDF at the age of 18.
