Tri-State: Break From The Heat After Severe Storms Rip Through Region


The Tri-State area is finally getting a break from the heat and humidity after heavy rain and strong winds swept through the region over the weekend.

The sudden storms that swept through parts of New Jersey helped snap a triple digit heat wave, but left as many as 60,000 people without electricity and others simply awestruck by the power of Mother Nature.

Those who experienced it say the storms seemed to come out of nowhere, catching many off guard.

On Monmouth Beach, 48-year-old Indira Tursanova was killed after being struck by a bolt of lightning while walking along a sea wall with her family.

Witnesses said she was about 20 feet behind the rest of the group as they were racing to get off the beach when the dark clouds moved in.

In Freehold, trees came crashing onto homes and cars.
