Outrage would best describe the reaction of residents upon seeing the spray paint vandalism attack against a memorial for Maran Rav Shach ZT”L in Bnei Brak.

Bnei Brak City Hall recently erected memorial plaques around the city at historic sites in memory of significant personalities. Such plaques may be found near yeshivos and shuls. The plaques contain a biography of the person, accomplishments, affiliated mosdos and a photo.

Included among the plaques is one for Maran HaGaon Menachem Mann Shach ZT”L, located at 27 Ravaad Street. According to Chadrei Chareidim, this particular one was defaced in a vandalism attack a number of days ago. Neighbors in the vicinity phoned the appropriate city office to notify officials of the incident. Rav Shach’s face was spray painted with black paint.

It is believed the act is connected to the ongoing machlokes surrounding Yated Ne’eman.
