IDF Chief of Personnel Major-General Orna Barvibai told Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) that the IDF welcomes the arrival of chareidim, adding that while some question the value of drafting avreichim, “the alternative is a less welcome reality” she explained. She added that this is the best route for the Israeli people and that the IDF stands ready to open its doors and permit the new inductees to enter any unit that they are qualified to serve in.
Also speaking to Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) on Wednesday morning, 7 Tammuz 5772 was Vice Premier Moshe Ya’alon who stated the government will approve a new draft law by the deadline, August 1, 2012, but the implementation of that law will be gradual.

I’m trying to picture a woman in the army like Orna giving orders to Gerer chassidim soldiers, or for that matter any other chassidic soldiers.
I am tryin to picture chassidish Yidden turning their lives over to the Zionist army and losing their Yiddishkeit. You can be darn sure that within 5 years of this process thousands more will leave Yiddishkeit, which is exactly what the Zionists have in mind with this policy. They are always complainng there are too many Charedim in their medinah.
“I’m trying to picture a woman in the army like Orna giving orders to Gerer chassidim soldiers, or for that matter any other chassidic soldiers.”
why only chassidish, and not litvish or sfardim?
secondly I don’t see why this can’t be averted by acting crazy
Nicejew (#2), I can imagine chareidi chayalim having a hashpaah on the other soldiers and make them frum. Hashem has His ways to achieve His objectives. The One Who laughs last …. The clowns in the government have a big mouth but they are clueless.
You expect all the chareidim to act crazy??? What do you want them to do jump up and down like monkeys?
A different alternative is to preach religen in the army and when they see that some soldiers start becoming frum they will THROW out all the chareidim with the fear of them spreading the “dIsease” of yiddeshkite
dovid2 If you know a bit about Israeli History you’ll know that this idea was tried by the earlier religious zionists led by Hagaon Rav Kook Zazta’l. This caused the big Scism between the Zionist and the Chareidim. Zionists felt we should join them and be mashpia and the Chareidim said “stay away” 64 years later its hard to argue who was right and who was wrong unless you look at the statistics of how many of those mizrachim have torah true families 3 generations later and compare with how many chareidim do.
