  1. can you please post the other chaveirim divisions telephone #s.
    thank you.

Editors Response: Kindly click HERE for the Yeshivaworld Important number listings. (That feature is located on the left column)

  2. give credit to its founder R’ Shaya Erps from Monsey who was the founder and mastermind of the idea of Chaveirim. He founded this org. in monsey and was later-on immitated by several communities. (Brooklyn, Monroe, Montreal, Toronto & London)

  3. Being a chaveirim member, I just want to say how amazed I am myself of fellow chaveirim members.

To some, chaveirim members are perceived as unemployed people who just ‘like to hack’..

Let me share with you a little bit you DON’T know about chaveirim and its members. First of all, these are people with normal jobs and families.I see the calls coming out a whole day. Ok-so i take an average of a couple calls a day. But I am not here trying to brag about myself and that’s not alot in comparison.I can tell you from what I see, It is amazing how people are ‘moiser nefesh’ themselves for another yid, no matter what hour of day or night and no matter what the weather. There are members who constantly take calls in midlle of a freezing winter night-when us regular people would not even think of taking off our covers.Or in the sweltering heat, with sweat dripping down their faces. Do they get ‘Kovved’ for it? NO! The only ones who know about it, are some members and hashem(well, yes, the one you helped too..)

Just last week… asara be’taives, of course there was the regular dozens of calls which were taken happily..one particular call amazed me. There it was, about 5:15 ish ,when everyone was davening mariv and running home to break their fast, a call came out which was at least 10-15 minutes out of town. Within approximately 1 minute, the call was answered and this member was on his way. After fasting and taking calls a whole day, who(including myself) doesn’t want to go home to their families and have something to eat?But no. This member wasn’t thinking about himself. He was thinking about the family who was stuck on the road.Just amazing.

    Mi Ke’amcha yisroel.

  4. Truly amazing organization. It’s bothered me tremendously for quite some time when people see a Chaveirim member (made obvious by his yellow Chaveirim coat or whatever) and often they laugh and throw out ridiculing remarks such as “Couldn’t get on to Hatzola so did Chaveirim” or “what a loser”. Nevertheless, those same people would not hesitate to call Chaveirim a minute later if they had trouble and needed help. What an audacity! Don’t scoff at someone and then call them for help. If you prefer to make fun of these people then don’t dare call them. These are people who will stop whatever they’re doing whenever it is to shlep out to help you with your flat tire. They dont get paid a cent, don’t take tips or even demand a “thank you”. Just want to help another jew. That’s all. Truly commendable and underrated.

  5. Chaverim members are truly a bunch of amazing and admirable folks with an incredible amount of Ahavas Yisroel.
When our tires were slashed in a not-so-nice neighborhood, they sent two or three volunteers so that one could take my husband to buy new tires, and another could stay with the car to deter further vandalism. All in the middle of the night.
I’ve had to call for help on more than one occasion. I always felt bad disturbing someone in the middle of a work day, or needing help changing a tire on a freezing cold night. They don’t only come “to do their job” like other services do. They come with an incredible amount of patience, as if changing a tire was just the challenge they were looking for in subzero weather!
Thanks Chaverim! And thanks to the wives and families who put up with their running off to help a fellow Jew any time at a moment’s notice!

  6. Chaverim…. You deserve a STANDING OVATION!!!

I must say I have been a recipient quite a few times and each and every they have been there for me as soon as possible. Before this Queens division I got stuck in Queens on an Erev Shabbos and I had a chaverim guy getting ready on his way to come help me even though it was erev shabbos and there was CRAZY traffic! B”H someone in the neighborhood saw me and stopped to help so I was able to tell the Tzaddik from Chaverim he can return back to Brooklyn.

So many times, their patient dispatcher has helped me and didnt mind my several calls in a row to follow up in situations. Whatever the weather they are there to help!!

I even witnessed a major Kiddush Hashem once. A lady that I passed on the street, not frum, locked her fancy car with her keys in the engine! She was Hyperventilating and I thought she might pass out. I turned to her and said, I know someone who can help you. I phoned Chaverim and sure enough someone came on by and in a zip or two returned her baby to her as well as her keys. You should have seen her awe and admiration of these simple Tzadikim.

I think every simgle one of us should come out and publicly thank Chaverim for being there at all hours for us. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!
May Hashem repay you for your true chasadim!

    Shkoyach!

  7. I just heard from a member, that in 2007 Chaveirim of Brooklyn covered over 25,200 calls. That’s alot of people that were helped!!

Kol hakuvod. May we only hear about yidden willing to help one another.

  8. i have to say that chavarim is the greatest thing – i used to drive an old yishivish car and had to call them on numerous occations(far rockaway/fivetowns) and they come right away -one time i was on the phone w/ chavarim when my car stalled and s/o pulled up next to me to ask if i needed help -i said no thanx im on the phone w chavarim -it turned out they were chavarim -they had arrived before i even hung up the phone wowowow—-also thanx to brooklyn chavarim for the time i locked my keys in my car and fivetowns chavarim for my flxing my flat tires(AAA TAKES HOURS AND HOURS TO COME-CHAVARIM TAKES AT MOST 10 MIN!) THANK YOU CHAVARIM!!!!!!!!!

  9. Unlike AAA, they will actually be there in less than 25 minutes. They are pleasamt and unerstand that you may be a bit nervous. Good for you, Queens.

  10. How can we start a Northern NJ chaveirim?
There is a great need for this service. Especially with so many frum people traveling through our roads everyday.

  11. this past summer on a Sunday nite 10:30 p.m. eastbound on Route 17 one of my tires ruptured.
with a car full of passengers and much chesed, I hobbled off the 17 at exit 124 into a hotel parking lot and asked permission to leave my car and then to take a taxi home.
I did not need to fix a flat. I needed a tire.

One of my passengers called Brooklyn Chaveirim anyway – who gave us KJ Chaveirim’s number. They in turn had a KJ garage call me to ask where I am and what size tire I needed. The garage, which is on call to KJ Chaveirim 24/6,sent a truck to me with an entire tire shop on the truck!
75 minutes after the blowout on a Sunday nite I was back on the road with a new tire installed!
The non-Jewish hotel manager who saw my tire, the truck and the whole show said that it was unbelievable – but the KJ community is well-known for its communal acts of kindness.

  12. #6 ego – you are absolutely right!!

chaveirim helped me a couple of times….

one late nite in august my car broke down near monroe! i was alone -so i called chaveirim who referred me to the monroe division(AAA towed me) but the chaveirim member stayed until it was taken care of & then found me a place to stay for the night(as no mechanic was open that late)

    kol hakovod!!
