Jason Dov Greenblatt, President Donald Trump’s special representative for International Negotiations, was in Israel on Monday.
He met with families of Israelis believed to be held captive by Hamas terrorists in Gaza, and davened at the Kosel. Monday evening was the beginning of Shiva Assar B’Tammuz, and the start of the Three Weeks of mourning for the destruction of the Bais Hamikdash.
Greenblatt documented his trip on Twitter, as can be seen below:
I just met w/ the other families of Israelis believed to be missing in Gaza. Shame on Hamas for preventing their return. All must come home pic.twitter.com/ADYIbpZ1B8

Greenblatt released the following statement after meeting with the families: President Trump’s Special Representative for International Negotiations, Jason Greenblatt, met this evening with the families of Avera Mengistu and Hisham al-Sayed to discuss the fate of their loved ones held in Gaza by Hamas. He wished to also meet with the family of Jumaa Abu Ghanima, but that unfortunately did not occur. Mr. Greenblatt expressed outrage that Hamas has not allowed the Israelis, some of whom may need medical assistance, to communicate with their families and return home. Mr. Greenblatt expressed his sincere hope that all three Israelis would be returned to their families immediately.
