VIDEO: Hamas’ One-Sided Ceasefire

Senior Hamas officials announce a ceasefire has been reached with Israel due to the assistance of Egyptian negotiators. For residents of southern Israel, there is no apparent ceasefire as 20 rockets were fired on Friday and Shabbos, including five Grad katyusha rockets aimed at Ashkelon on motzei Shabbos. Baruch Hashem, those rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome system.

A “senior military source” quoted anonymously by Walla News stated that Hamas unilaterally declared a ceasefire on shabbos after the IAF targeted a Hamas command center. The source explained that until now, aerial assaults targeted launching stations and the like, and when the Hamas headquarters was hit, terrorist commanders realized it was worthwhile backing down and stopping the rocket fire. The source is quoted as saying isolated launches may take place in the hours following the unilateral declaration, but he is confident that quiet will be restored to southern Israel.

Hamas sources report 16 dead and 73 wounded as a result of IAF strikes over Gaza in recent days.
