When I became an orphan, I thought my life was over.
Will I ever have a family again? How can I ever afford to have a home?
Once I became a chassan it was very clear: There was no way we would be able to cover the basics. I could not provide for my kallah. Maybe I just didn’t deserve to have a normal family.
Then, the phone call came. My kallah & I were selected for a tzedaka program that was beyond our greatest hopes: The 27 orphan weddings of Tammuz.
Before the end of this month, nearly 30 other orphans like myself will get married with the help of Kupat Ha’Ir. All of our stories are tragic in different ways: Some lost their parent to disease, others to violence. But in the end we have one thing in common: We are the orphans of Rav Chaim Kanievsky.
Please, we are begging you. A group of young people without parents are praying that you will step in and help us start new lives. This is our chance to begin again.
This month is especially important because it is the end of a year of similar campaigns, and once the 27 of us are bez”H married, Kupat Ha’Ir will have made 1,000 orphan weddings.
Rav Chaim Kanievsky himself has said that donating to help us 27, is equal to helping all 1,000 of the last year. He has blessed you donors that you should be blessed a thousand times, and he will take your name to pray for you personally this Shabbos.
After all of the pain that my kallah and I have been through: Please help us to start new families, to replenish the lives that were lost when our parents were ripped away.
Thank you
Chassan
