Malchei Yisrael Street Roadwork Hotline

The roadwork infrastructure project to renew Geula’s Malchei Yisrael Street is moving ahead at a brisk pace accompanied with the realization the work, necessary as it may be, is resulting in significant hardship for residents, shoppers and store owners alike, not to mention the disruption in bus lines.

Towards keeping the community informed, City Hall has established a hotline information number, 02-538-8508, providing updated information on the status of the project, which is being completed in sections to avoid total chaos in the area. The hotline is the result of pressure exerted by Deputy Mayor Deutsch.

According to the HaMevaser report, Deputy Mayor Rav Yosef Deutsch is heavily involved in monitoring the project and keenly aware of the need to keep the tzibur as well informed as possible.

At a recent meeting of various agencies involved in the neighborhood overhaul project, Deutsch surprised participants when he announced that cameras were installed to permit real-time monitoring of the pace of construction crews to ensure the work is completely professionally and in a timely fashion. An Egged representative is closely involved as well with the realization of the role public transportation plays in the chareidi community in general, and Geula in particular.

YWN-ISRAEL phoned the hotline today, 30 Sivan 5772 for an update. We learn that the neighborhood is being overhauled, stores remain open, and the noisy work is carried out only during daytime hours.

There are updates regarding changes on the 1,10,15, 15A, 39, 39A, 59, and 136 bus lines, as well as informing the public that one may continue driving towards Geula in a private vehicle from Sarei Yisrael Street up to Yaakov Meir Street. In addition, the Schneller parking area is open during afternoon hours and on erev shabbos during the entire construction period.
