    Do dogs also become impure when they sleep?

    Can our impurity affect them? Does it have effects?

    If one pets or feeds one’s dog before washing natilas yadayim in the morning, does my impurity rub off on him/her? If yes, can one fix it by abstaining from touching or feeding one’s dog the next morning and thereafter after natilas yadayim?

    Poppa, it depends on whether dogs are keilim. Rav Moshe has a teshuva which Rav Eliezer Melamed brings that they are keilim for petting and therefore not muktza. However, Shemirat Shabbat k’Chilkata is machmir. If the dog is a keli than gets the next lower level of tuma you have. For example, If you are an av (e.g. if you were in a Jewish cemetery) once you pet him he is a rishon. Someone else who pets him would become a sheni.

    You can start it about anything you like. Some people like to make funny ones, like asking if you have to wash your kitten negel vasser after it eats a mouse, and whether cats have the same shmoneh shratzim as people do, or if they have different ones. And what’s the shiur?

    What if you use your dog as a mobile food serving tray at social gatherings? Sooner or later, that will become a new fad.
