As the government prepares to evict 30 families from Beit El’s Ulpana neighborhood, their temporary caravilla caravan prefab homes have arrived at the military base adjacent to the community.
The government is compelled to carry out the eviction by July 1, 2012 in line with a ruling handed down by the High Court of Justice. Residents and supporters are planning protests ahead of that date.
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu explains he is compelled to adhere to the decision of the nation’s highest court, and he vows to construct 300 homes in Beit El to replace those being demolished.

The government is not “compelled” to do anything. It is entirely in Netanyahu’s power to refuse, and to order the army not to demolish the buildings. He swore that the neighbourhood would “never” be evacuated, and surely his obligation to fulfill that oath comes before any supposed obligation to obey a cabal of unelected petty dictators.
In any event it’s high time the Bagatz was taken down a notch, and this case would seem to present the perfect opportunity. The injustice of the Court’s order is obvious to all. This is a hill on which Netanyahu could do battle and become a hero. Instead he cravenly kowtows to the court which is not עדת קל but ratherהעדה הרעה הזאת. Shame on him. If he does this let his name be forever remembered for shame.
BIBI stand up for justice before you go in History as a super bluff.
