Sunday Morning News Briefs from Eretz Yisrael


IDF soldiers taking part in counterterrorism operations throughout Yehuda and Shomron apprehended three suspects during the night.

** Strikes by doctors and nurses in Wolfson Hospital (Cholon) and Barzilai Hospital (Ashkelon) for a number of hours to protest assaults against doctors and nurses.

12:15: No injuries were reported after a bus caught fire near Jerusalem’s central bus station. Riders got off without anyone being harmed.

** PM Netanyahu released a statement that Iran and Hizbullah continue to assist the Syrian regime of Bashar al-Assad.

** Passengers who boarded a 191 bus at HaTishbi Junction assaulted and robbed the driver. They fled with the driver’s money. The driver was transported to a local hospital with light injuries.

** The condition of soldiers injured when their jeep flipped in the Golan Heights on erev shabbos continues to improve. Soldier who was in intensive care now listed as moderate and the moderately injured soldier listed as light. A third soldier remains in Meir Hospital in light condition. The soldier who was killed in the incident, 19-year-old Dor Jan is being buried today at 15:30.

** Conflicting reports from the Egyptian media state the former leader; Hosni Mubarak is in critical condition while some reports state he died. There is no official agency that has released a statement regarding his condition.

** Continued concern in Jerusalem and elsewhere as the massacre of innocent civilians in Syria continues and as the Assad regime appears to reaching its final days. Israeli leaders are particularly concerned with the instability in that country.

** At 17:00, PM Netanyahu will attend the annual memorial for victims of the Altalena at the Nachlat Yitzchak Beis Hachaim in Tel Aviv.
