According to a report quoting Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu with Bild.de, Mrs. Sara Netanyahu, the prime minister’s wife, persuaded him to support the release of 1,000 terrorists in exchange of Gilad Shalit, who was held by Hamas terrorists in Gaza.
In the interview with the prime minister, he is quoted as saying “She told me to think of Gilad, the child Gilad locked up alone in a dark basement in Gaza, without hope, without light. Think if were our son. Think of him, his mother and father and make the decision”.
The interview addressed personal matters in the life of the couple, including the recent death of Shmuel Ben-Artzi, Mrs. Netanyahu’s father, the case of her firing her domestic, which led to a lawsuit and media coverage in Israel, with Mrs. Netanyahu explaining “I am an easy target. They cannot attack my husband so they come after me”, referring to the mainstream Israeli media.
