Chareidi Parties To Meet To Discuss Chilul Shabbos

Government Chilul Shabbos is in the rise, leading to chareidi parties in Knesset planning to meet. The Chilul Shabbos surrounds work on the Ayalon Highway as well as Israel Railways, Maatz (Government roadways authority), and more.

Some chareidi lawmakers have been vocal and Minister Litzman has met with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who has been told the Chilul Shabbos may threaten the coalition government.

Yahadut Hatorah has already released a message that the government-sponsored Chilul Shabbos is at the top of the party’s agenda and the prime minister has been informed and instructed to order an immediate and total halt of the Chilul Shabbos.

The chareidi parties explain the Chilul Shabbos is in direct violation of coalition agreements with the chareidi parties, with the latter demanding the coalition adhere to the Shabbos status quo.

The chareidi parties, or at least their leadership, will likely be meeting again to discuss the matter in the coming days. They will also have to decide where they draw their line in the sand for the chilul Shabbos after stating if it continues, they will bring down the coalition government.
