The Ometz organization on Wednesday, 20 Sivan, petitioned the High Court of Justice seeking to compel Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to suspend Interior Minister Aryeh Deri, or at the very least, send him on vacation pending the outcome of the ongoing police investigation against him, News1 reports.
The petition explains that in light of the investigation against Deri and his criminal past, in addition to the High Court’s dissatisfaction with his appointment to his current cabinet post; the very office in which some of the crimes he was convicted of were committed, he should be removed from office. Petitioners add that based on media reports, the investigation has reached a point that justifies or even compels suspending Deri from his cabinet position.
Both Deri and his wife Yaffa have been questioned by police of the Lahav 433 unit, both questioned ‘under warning’, signaling sufficient evidence has been gathered in the case to move ahead with a criminal indictment.
Deri himself, without his wife, was questioned for a third time on Wednesday, 20 Sivan. The first time he was questioned, Deri as questioned for some ten hours, followed by the second session, six hours.
The questioning surrounds alleged income tax fraud and other white-collar crimes involving Deri, his wife and a brother. It is alleged they used real estate investments to hide unreported assets and thereby avoid paying relevant taxes.

One Response
By the same lumdes, Bibi should suspend himself.
Two novel ideas:
1 – The high court should declare that Deri is nor a chareidy, then the police will leave him alone.
2 – The high court should order the police not to bother Deri until he finishes his current tenure. Like he’s not going away anywhere. They got plenty of time to rodeph him afterwards.
