For some, there are things far more important that belonging to a professional organization, in this case, the organization representing members of the press in Israel.

The relatively new organization succeeded in attracting many members of the press, but for Yaakov Eichler, the affiliation has come to an end. He decided to resign after learning of an association event being held on Shabbos. The response was that the event is geared primarily to the Arab members, but Eichler is uninterested in explanations. He has broken away and others plan to follow suit as they are unwilling to tolerate the organization’s total disregard for the sanctity of the day.
