    It’s true that they are technically beetles, not bugs, but it is equally true that they are not technically considered ladies.

    I think we should call them Gentlemen Bugs or Gentlemen Beetles. Calling the bugs ladies is very degrading. If I was a women my feelings would be hurt.

    We call them Ladybirds. Even though they are neither lady nor bird. Similar to pineapple, which is neither pine nor apple.

    cicada is another insect that people pronounce differently. sikayda, shikaudah….
