The Ministry of Transportation and the Netiv Yisrael Company on Thursday morning 14 Sivan opened the new third lane on the Jerusalem-Tel Aviv Highway between Shar HaGai and Motza, 24 hours earlier than expected. On Monday, 11 Sivan, the parallel section in the other direction was opened to traffic from Motza to Shar HaGai.
Baruch Hashem, with Thursday’s opening the new section is operational in both directions, with a third lane and having eliminated a sharp turn and difficult climb. There is also the addition of wide shoulders and the construction of a complex system of bridges and tunnels and three new interchange in N’vei Ilan, Chemed and Harel.
Transportation Minister Moshe Katz stated next week, the speed limit on the highway in the Harel Tunnels will increase from 70KPH to 90KPH now that construction is over. Simultaneously, Ministry of Transportation and Netiv Yisrael crews are working to increase the speed limit in other areas of the highway from 100KPH to 110KPH, in accordance with road conditions.
