I’m a 12th grade bochur from a very out of town community with 100 frum families and where we say y’all. My family is on the modern side (mother teaches Judaism at university, father is get and shtickl lubavitch). I went to coed schools in camps until high school, when I went to the yeshiva in my city. It’s a “chilled” yeshiva consisting on yeshivish rebels who dorm and local modernish kids like me who don’t want to leave home. I got really into learning and bh was very matzliach. The rebbeim were normal yeshivish (for the most part) so I learned all the yeshivish shprachen and derech halimud (the former being insubstantial in light of the latter). I was very matzliach and happy and shtieged a lot. I wanted to become big so in 11th grade I decided I had topped out. I ferhered at one of the top yeshivas in the country (where my Rebbi had learnt) and bh was accepted. I have been there this year but I got very sick about a month before Purim and was home until two weeks after pesach. (I had a headache syndrome “new daily persistent headaches’). I went to brooklyn to rabbi Katz (if anybody knows who that it is) who gives seminars on Dr. Sarno’s method and it became clear that my sickness was the result of stress in yeshiva. It was tooo much too fast and the environment was too pressured (my current yeshiva is known for its pressure). But at the same time I shtieged a ton in learning and overall. I am now looking for a yeshiva for Beis medrash where the guys aren’t too yeshivish and there isn’t pressure but at the same time where there is top notch learning (bh, I’m considered from the best guys here in my yeshiva, and I don’t want to sacrifice in the level of learning). I’m looking for a place that’s in touch with n’imus of Torah where I can become great but in a normal healthy way. Thanks for reading and in advance for the advice. Please only respond with info about yeshivos and not snarky hearos about my post. Thank You

Also just want to make clear to everyone that I’m of course consulting my rebbeim and checking out where they recommend, I just want to look at as many places as possible to find the right fit.June 7, 2017 1:24 am at 1:24 am #1291043Big AParticipantDefinitely somewhere out of town like upstate, Monsey, Passaic where the air is clear and the environment is peaceful and quiet.
June 7, 2017 1:42 pm at 1:42 pm #1291446bmyerParticipant…Or maybe a chilled out place in Lakewood or Brooklyn…we don’t know you so we can’t say anything “definite” but there are some good chilled places all over…
Did you ever hear of ZA in bayswater? They say it’s super chilled out and there’s a very high level of learning if you’re up to it. Also the rosh hayeshiva is a top notch mechanech and would definitely help with burnout, stress and other growing pains…

June 7, 2017 2:55 pm at 2:55 pm #1291497bmyerParticipantYes also a good idea…illustrating why saying “definitely” is a bad idea…plenty of good places around..look around and listen to your rabbeim and you should be fine. Maybe check them out during the zman and see if any of them “speak” to you or if you specifically like any of them for one reason or another.
