New Jersey Health and Senior Services Commissioner Fred M. Jacobs M.D., J.D., has approved amendments to the State’s immunization rules, which will require four additional immunizations for children beginning in September 2008.
The Public Health Council, by vote at its December 10 public meeting, recommended to the Commissioner the approval of the adoption of the amendment and new rules related to Immunization of Pupils in Schools. The rules will be filed with the Office of Administrative Law for publication.
The administrative rules will require children attending licensed child care centers and preschools to receive annual influenza vaccinations and a pneumoccocal vaccine beginning in September 2008.
Also, children born after January 1, 1997 and enrolled in grade six or transferring into a New Jersey school from another state or country will be required to receive a booster dose of the diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis vaccine as well as one dose of meningococcal vaccine.
The regulations were amended by the Department with advice from a number of national organizations and with recommendations from the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices and the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
“The amendments to the rules governing immunizations will have a direct impact on reducing illnesses, hospitalizations and deaths in one of New Jersey’s most vulnerable populations – our children,” said Commissioner Jacobs. “Vaccinations have proven to be one of the most effective and safe forms of disease prevention.”

Thimerosol has been linked to the epidemic of autism and ADHD that is sweeping the United States. Most flu vaccines are ineffective, because they target the wrong flu. The State of California has officially banned the use of Thimerosol in vaccines designed for babies under 3 years of age and pregnant women. That should tell you something.

The doctors mean well. They want to help their patients.
But they also want to avoid expensive malpractice lawsuits.
To avoid lawsuits, they must practice according to the established “standards of care.” These standards are set by Government-affiliated medical organizations.
The doctors who run these organizations are heavily compromised by their deep involvement with the drug companies, and I don’t have to tell you of the involvement of the politicians.
So, the “standards of care” are written to favor more and more drugs, tests, and vaccines.
Your doctor is either on the defensive or ignorant of the latest research.
Besides, now that he is simply an employee of Medicare, Medicaid, and the large medical insurance companies, he doesn’t even have the time to talk to you.

There is more mercury, in a more absorbable form, in a single tuna fish sandwich than in all the vaccines your child will receive in his lifetime. I don’t see anyone banning tuna fish or linking it to terrible diseases.

Actually, in all blinded, controlled, scientific studies there has been shown to be NO link between thimerosol and autism or ADHD, or a connection between any vaccine and these diseases.
In addition, if you look at the numbers of real autism there has not been an increase in autism over the last 30 years. What has happened is that many more children who used to be considered just “a little off socially” are now being labeled with “autism spectrum disorders” and these numbers are being used liberally by anti-vaccine organizations to artificially inflate the numbers and scare everyone.

Most flu vaccines are very effective at preventing influenza in each given year. “Flu” does not mean every illness comprised of cough, sore throat and muscle aches. There are hundreds of other winter viruses that cause similar symptoms. The flu vaccine targets the 3 strains of Influenza virus which are predicted, with surprisingly good accuracy, to be the most common in that given year.
Before blindly posting the latest propaganda put out by the anti-vaccine factions, please get your facts straight.

I am totally appalled by this legislation. It is just another way the drug companies and the government are trying to control our lives. There are many many strains of flu. There cannot be a vaccine against all the different strains and no one can know which strain of flu will be going around. Many people who get the shot come down with illness after getting the shot. There are better, natural ways to boost your own immunity so that you don’t get sick or if you do, to recover faster. We should be given the choice to take charge of our health the way we see fit and not have all these shots imposed on us and made mandatory.Washing one’s hands with soap after coming indoors,using the bathroom, before eating, etc. is one good way to keep healthy.The schools should make sure that all children wash their hands well before snack or lunchtime and remind the child to wash after going to the bathroom, with soap.There are other things to do to, before you get sick or once you do get sick, that can eliminate or lessen the effects of illness that are not harmful to one’s health.None of my family members ever had the flu, if they did, it was so mild we didn’t know it was the flu.

The “standards of care” are administered and interpreted by a medical board in each state. If you try to do something they object to, they will pull your license. Most doctors are intimidated and don’t want to try anything different for fear of losing their license.

This is my point. There are individual stories of children who were diagnosed with autism and their parents decided that it was due to vaccines or thimerisol or whatever. However, the fact that 2 things happened at the same time does not mean that one caused the other.
The only way to prove or disprove causation is to look at large groups of children–numbering in the thousands. One half of the group receives the vaccine, the other half does not. Then look a year or two later and see if the vaccinated group had a higher rate of autism. In over 30 studies, not one showed a higher rate in the vaccinated group.
As tragic as the stories of families with autism are, the fact that a father “believes” that vaccines caused his child’s illness does not make it so.
BTW–there has been no thimerisol in children’s vaccines in the US (except for flu) for at least 10 years. Presumably, if the thimerisol was responsible for autism we should now start seeing the rates falling. According to the autism society, the rates are still increasing. How can they explain that?
LeMaaseh, what Yiddishe kep should start doing is taking advantage of our “Medinah Shel Chesed” and start using the religious exemption for vaccines and then we can make medical decisions for ourselves. Lawsuits and Licensing are both huge issues for doctors. They can be ruined financially either way.
National medical boards are even worse than local boards in promoting the agenda of the big pharmaceutical companies. The doctors on those boards are wined and dined very heavily to keep them on board.
Forced vaccinations are a cash cow for the pharmaceutical companies, and they will do anything to increase–not decrease–the numbers of forced vaccinations, which now number over 30.

Ditching the Evidence
The CDC worked hard at burying the unwanted data. Specifically:
• The CDC paid the Institutes of Medicine to produce a new study that would debunk the link between thimerosal and brain disorders.
• The organization also withheld unflattering findings by claiming the original data had been “lost” and could not be replicated.
• And to prevent the Freedom of Information Act, the CDC handed its giant database of vaccine records over to a private company — pronouncing it off-limits to researchers.
Help From the Government
Up until last year, vaccine manufacturers continued to sell off their mercury-based supplies; and, of course, the CDC and FDA were more than willing to offer a helping hand by buying up the toxic vaccines for export to developing countries (some of which are now experiencing a sudden explosion in autism rates) and allowing drug companies to still use the preservative in some American vaccines.
What’s more, instead of focusing on child safety, the FDA continues to permit manufacturers to include thimerosal in numerous over-the-counter medications.
Under pressure from Congress and parents, the Institute of Medicine convened another panel to address continuing concerns about the Vaccine Safety Datalink Data Sharing program. In February, the new panel, composed of different scientists, criticized the way the VSD had been used in the Verstraeten study, and urged the CDC to make its vaccine database available to the public.
So far, though, only two scientists have managed to gain access. Dr. Mark Geier, president of the Genetics Center of America, and his son, David, spent a year battling to obtain the medical records from the CDC. Since August 2002, when members of Congress pressured the agency to turn over the data, the Geiers have completed six studies that demonstrate a powerful correlation between thimerosal and neurological damage in children. One study, which compares the cumulative dose of mercury received by children born between 1981 and 1985 with those born between 1990 and 1996, found a “very significant relationship” between autism and vaccines. Another study of educational performance found that kids who received higher doses of thimerosal in vaccines were nearly three times as likely to be diagnosed with autism and more than three times as likely to suffer from speech disorders and mental retardation. Another soon-to-be published study shows that autism rates are in decline following the recent elimination of thimerosal from most vaccines.
I (Robert Kennedy, Jr.) devoted time to study this issue because I believe that this is a moral crisis that must be addressed. If, as the evidence suggests, our public-health authorities knowingly allowed the pharmaceutical industry to poison an entire generation of American children, their actions arguably constitute one of the biggest scandals in the annals of American medicine. “The CDC is guilty of incompetence and gross negligence,” says Mark Blaxill, vice president of Safe Minds, a nonprofit organization concerned about the role of mercury in medicines. “The damage caused by vaccine exposure is massive. It’s bigger than asbestos, bigger than tobacco, bigger than anything you’ve ever seen.”
