Inspectors have confiscated a shipment of 27,000 unauthorized eggs which were stored in unacceptable conditions and pose a health hazard to the public.

During the past half year, Agriculture Ministry inspectors working with other authorities confiscated 225,000 illegal eggs heading to the Israeli marketplace.

In the latest operation, the eggs were held in an area registering 104F (40C), far above an acceptable temperature.

In this last case, the eggs were purchased from one of the sorting centers in the area by the owner of the vehicle and transferred to the driver. The eggs were intended to be marketed in the Jerusalem area.
