The United Nations Security Council voted unanimously to condemn the latest Syrian government’s massacre of innocent civilians, at least 108 people including children in Houla. As in previous cases, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and other state officials deny government troops massacred anyone, insisting they do not massacre civilians. State officials explained that such an act is a violation of international law and they would have no part in such activities.
In his letter, UN Director-General Bank ki-Moon stated the dead bodies were seen and the evidence confirmed that artillery fire was directed at the victims. He added that the rebel forces do not have artillery shells in their armory.
