PHOTOS: Histadrut Chief Calls On Cabinet To Trash Plan To Bring Thousands Of Skilled Chinese Workmen To Israel

(PHOTOS IN EXTENDED ARTICLE)

Histadrut National Labor Federation Director Avi Nissankoren has sent a letter to a number of cabinet ministers, calling upon them to cancel the decision to bring thousands of skilled construction workers from China to Israel. He explains that bringing the workers will harm the construction industry and if the government moves ahead with the plan, he will declare a ‘work dispute’ which will lead to a sectoral strike.

The labor leader sent his letter to Finance Minister (Kulanu) Moshe Kahlon, Welfare Minister (Likud) Chaim Katz and Housing Minister (Kulanu) Yoav Gallant. He calls on the cabinet to cancel the agreement reached with Chinese authorities.

He warns that implementation of the plan will result in a deteriorating in the quality of construction while posing a threat to the industry’s workers; many whose jobs will be lost. He is confident that the influx of so many foreign workers will result in the salary dropping, and this will result in even fewer Israelis working in the construction industry.

  1. > cancel the decision to bring thousands of skilled construction workers from China

Does that mean the Histadrut is on Trump’s side regarding immigration? I mean, why would it be so wrong for Trump to block such immigration when the Histadrut itself wants the immigartion blocked?
