The bubble umbrellas are simply made of transparent plastic and shaped more like half an eggshell or bell, instead of a wider curve of a regular umbrella.

It kind of looks like your top half is in a bubble.

I once got one but returned it soon after. My bag got soaked and I couldn’t move much in it.

That said, people do look cute in them and they often have those hooked handles. All of the ones that I have seen fold long though, not in on themselves. So it’s a lot to carry.
