I learnt that Rav Miller Zatzal supported Apartheid because he felt it would be the better outcome for the Jewish community in SA.

Yes, he said that he was very concerned for the lives of the yidden there, and the yeshivos and kollelim. Additionally, he did say that he was not saying so because of feelings towards the black community, rather it was out of what he felt was self preservation for the yidden.

I learned not to sit in the last chair on the right at the table in the left back corner of the B”M at the 7 a.m. minyan on Shabbat. Better to sit in the chair immediately to the left of the last chair on the right at the table in the left back corner of the B”M at the 7 a.m. minyan on Shabbat.

Some things are better left unsaid in a public forum especially since they are liable to be taken out of context and/or misunderstood and can lead to incorrect impressions of both Rabbanim and Am Yisrael.

I learned that I was sponsoring Kiddush without having been asked to do so. I guess I’ll get an invoice this week in the mail

I learned that I committed fraud and theft this Shabbos. The shul had a learning seder during the afternoon, where it was advertised that the shul was open for “learning with a chavrusa.” However, I attended and learned alone. It did not occur to me until afterwards that I was violating the terms of the learning seder and use of the shul.

Did it say it was “only” open for learning with a chavrusa? Or that it was closed to independent learners?

I thought that anytime a shul is physically open, anyone is allowed to go in in order to learn or daven.

Wolf, you tend to take things way too literally.

Takahmamash: Why? I’m trying to figure out if you didn’t say because it is lashon hara or just because you answered the question and I didn’t ask why.

I was thinking that maybe something spilled on the seat or it was too close to something or it was a discomfort because of the A/C or heat. Dunno.

I learned Hilchos Yom ha’Atzma’ut, as well as learning the times of Yom ha’Atzma’ut services.
Am looking forward to commencing Hilchos Yom Yerusholayim this coming Schabbos.

You didn’t expect that? I had planned to leave before the shul kiddish because we had guests coming for lunch who did not daven at our shul. After the announcements I wa obligated to remain and had to send my nephew to the house to inform Mrs. CTL of an hour delay.

In today’s email was a bill for the kiddish.

Nope. It was someone’s makom. I don’t daven in that minyan regularly (although I will probably start to go more frequently), so I didn’t know which spots were “taken.” It’s actually a pretty nice minyan – starts at 7, finishes about 9.
