Over recent months burglars succeeded in breaking into homes in Bnei Brak’s Kiryas Vishnitz area almost nightly. The perpetrator has succeeded in evading law enforcement forces, at least until now.
In come Shomrim volunteers using “special means” and working with local police – announcing this week the suspect was apprehended after much undercover and surveillance work.
Shomrim officials report the perpetrator was working with a female who was disguised as a religious Jew. She was the front person, furnishing him with intelligence information as she wandered around the area. She was also the lookout during break-ins, warning him ahead of the arrival of police or Shomrim.
Shomrim add the suspect in custody routinely wore a reflective vest and used a commercial vehicle, and as he did when apprehended, explained he was working, transporting road workers to and from their assignment. He believed this provided him additional protection against arrest.
A major stakeout was set in place leading to locating the female accomplice. She eventually led them to the thief. He arrived at Shatz Street and at the precise time a Shomrim vehicle pulled and out blocked the perpetrator’s vehicle. He was in police custody in a matter of minutes.
