Israel Police spokespersons report that in a predawn wave of arrests in a number of cities around the country; 28 leaders and activists of the Peleg Yerushalmi faction have been arrested. The raid took place on isru chag in Eretz Yisrael Pesach, as police, Yassam commandos, border police and detectives armed with arrest and search warrants arrived at homes and offices of the suspects. In some cases, documents and computers were confiscated. The streets of chareidi areas of Yerushalayim were abuzz with people during the predawn hours as police vehicles arrived in Meah Shearim, N’vei Yaakov and other communities.
Targeted in the arrests were senior Peleg Newspaper officials as well as faction leaders. Some of the charges include incitement (referring to faction’s ‘Peleg’ affiliated newspaper) while others will face charges related to the many illegal protests nationwide in recent weeks as well as assault against chareidi soldiers as well as police during the recent protests. There are also charges of threatening and attempting to extort senior officials in large Israeli companies by newspaper officials in an effort to get them to advertise.
Also in custody are operators of the ‘Kav HaMa’avak’ (the faction’s hotline phone) as well as faction leaders and organizers.
About 250 police were involved in the operation and arrests were made in Yerushalayim, Bnei Brak, Beit Shemesh, Modi’in Illit, Ashdod, Rechasim, and Hadera. Some of the suspects are being questioned by officers in the 433 Unit, Israel’s equivalent of the FBI.
Among those taken into custody are; HaPeles Editor Nati Grossman, Assistant Editor Yeshayahu Wein, Shmuel Yavrov, Shraga Yavrov, Shmuel Elyashiv, Moshe Viner, Yisrael Tropper, Mordechai Krauss, and Shabtai Fein. Menachem Carmel was injured.
A protest followed the arrests made in Bnei Brak. Stormy protests are expected during the day in response to the widespread police action.

It is a shame that the gedolim do not speak out against the Peleg faction – or maybe they do and I never read about them.
But this peleg faction is really disgusting and really should be stopped before they cause much damage to the image of a frum bucher being a nice and good person.

Well there is good news and there is bad news, which do you want to hear first? The good news is that at long last, better late than never, the Israeli authorities have decided to deal with the Peleg hooligans. The bad news is that thousands of people will be inconvenienced and have their time stolen while the Peleg children demonstrate in the streets.
Ridiculous.They didn’t arrest Lapid ,Meretz or Yesh Arid for clear incitement against Charedim –how can they arrest those who advocate against serving in the leftist, anti-religious IDF??

These arrests had nothing to do with incitement or hafganot. They came after a several month investigation of their newspaper HaPeles and their “hotline” – “kav hamaavak” which one would access with a code number and then receive instructions on a daily basis which business (and family members of business owners) to harass that day and how much (how many phone calls, faxes, emails) in order to try to convince these businesses to advertise in their newspaper. The people were arrested on extortion, bribery, harassment…

Instead of spewing blindless hatred, can anyone explain why they are talking about a group of tens of thousands of bnei torah led by some of the greatest Gedolei Torah in the world with such hatred. Is it because the holy and trustworthy Israeli Police arrested 26 people in a midnight opperation involving 250 police officers as if they were arresting wanted Hamas terrorists and then freed 22 of them before even bringing them to court. 2 years ago 22 were arrested in a similiar operation involving hundreds of officers and not one has been proven guilty, only one of them is still being investigated.
I’m not voicing an opinion on the matter I’m just asking to raise the maturity level of the comments like “so and so was proven guilty of doing such and such and therefore I think we should hate him or therefore I think he is very bad”, some reasonable opinions on the matter, not just showing off the human beings’s base animilistic instincts.
