According to Egyptian media reports, Israel and Cairo have struck a deal by which Israeli citizen Ouda Tarabin will be released in exchange for 63 Egyptian prisoners held by Israel. According to foreign media reports, the exchange is set to take place this week. Tarabin was held after being found guilty of being an Israeli spy.
The foreign media reports the prisoners will be brought to Sinai via the Taba Crossing while representatives of the International Red Cross observe the transfer. Arrangements for the return of Tarabin have not been finalized. He may be flown directly from Cairo or alternatively, enter Israel via the Taba Crossing.
Tarabin was imprisoned by the Egyptians in 2000 and he was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment on the espionage conviction.
