Shortly after former senior Likud personality Gideon Saar announced his return to the political arena following a 2.5-year hiatus, a poll shows Likud would earn more seats in an election today if the party was headed by him and not Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu .
The poll was commissioned by Channel 10 News, seeking to determine how Likud voters would vote if Saar heads the party and if Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu heads the party, as is the case today. The poll was carried out by the Midgam Project headed by Dr. Ariel Ayalon and the Stat-Net Company.
With Saar at the helm, Likud earns 29 seats as opposed to only 27 with Netanyahu leading. The poll was taken a day after Saar announced his comeback.
