Betar Illit City Hall has begun installing new digital signs in major pick up points along major vehicular routes in the city, reporting that 10 have been installed to date.
The digital information boards provide the current time, information pertaining to the bus lines that service that route, the location of those buses and the estimated arrival time at the stop. The information boards carry a price tag of 40,000 NIS.
The daily HaMevaser reports that Mayor Rav Meir Rubinstein is the force behind the new information boards and he did the required fundraising for the project. The mayor feels this represents a significant improvement in the city’s public transportation service, stating this is the case in many major cities around the world, including Yerushalayim, and Betar is now counted among them.
