The Yassam policeman caught on video assaulting an Arab truck driver in Jerusalem without provocation is off the force.

Office Moshe Cohen, who was seen headbutting the Arab driver without justification came under investigation by the Justice Ministry Police Investigations Unit. On Monday, 7 Nissan, Cohen submitted his resignation from the department. His attorney, Avi Chimi reports he also expresses profound remorse for his actions and apologizes to citizens and the tens of thousands of police whose reputation he stained.

When it became clear to Cohen that he was going to be thrown off the force, he decided to preempt and resign to avoid that additional disgrace.

Police Chief Roni Alsheich stated the actions of the officer are not the norm, highlighting the agency is one that enforces the law and it does not act as it wishes. He emphasized such behavior is atypical and unacceptable as well as a gross violation of the department’s standards.
