Police say a woman has been struck and killed by a New York City subway train while trying to retrieve her phone that had fallen onto the tracks.

It happened at the 63rd Drive-Rego Park subway station in Queens just before 4 p.m. Sunday.

Police say the victim was struck by a southbound R train. It wasn’t clear if she had climbed down onto the tracks.

The unidentified woman was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
